Personal Projects
Here are some personal song projects friends and I have done together over the past few years. The Claudia Jacobs Band: "Come On Sunshine" (copyright © 2008, Claudia Jacobs, all rights reserved) Here's the latest from the Claudia Jacobs Band featuring Claudia Jacobs, acoustic guitar and vocals, Greg Galluccio, electric guitar, Dan Weymouth, keyboards, Tristan Eggener, electric bass and tuba and Mark Portugal on drums. The song is produced by Claudia, Greg, Dan and Tom Griffith (www.40yearslater.com) The International Badass Band (IBB): "Call In My Disgrace" (copyright © 2002, Greg Galluccio and Paul Curtiz, all rights reserved) The IBB is a virtual band - an internet collaboration group. With the exception of bassist Mike Versaci and me, none of us have ever actually met face to face, and geographically, we're spread out all over the map. We just trade track files over the internet. This is one of my songs, a driving, blues-rock piece ala Stevie Ray Vaughn. The track features the incredible slide guitar of Memphis rocker Roy Howell. Belgian singer/guitarist Paul Curtiz provided the lead vocals and co-wrote some of the lyrics from his studio in Brussels. Long-time friend and collaborator Mike Versaci delivered the bass track from Atlanta, Georgia. (The drums are programmed.) Two Of A Kind: "How Much Longer" (copyright © 1992, Francis Galluccio and Greg Galluccio, all rights reserved) One of four songs that cousin Francis Galluccio and I co-wrote and recorded as an EP back in the nineties under the name "Two of a Kind". We had some of the finest studio musicians on this project, including the late Doug Stegmeyer of the Billy Joel Band on bass and session drummer Frank Bellucci. Francis is on lead vocal. Greg Galluccio: "My Oh My" (copyright © 2007, Greg Galluccio, all rights reserved) COMING SOON The Claudia Jacobs Band: "No Matter What You Call It" (copyright © 2007, Claudia Jacobs, all rights reserved) This gospel-inspired piece of social commentary by Claudia shows off her ability to belt out a song with power and feeling. "Dr. Dan" Weymouth is on keyboards here,Tristan Eggener on bass and tuba and Mark Portugal on drums. The CD is being produced by Tom Griffith (www.40yearslater.com) Stay tuned! Greg Galluccio: "Christmas Bolero" (copyright © 2002, Greg Galluccio, all rights reserved) Started out as a transition piece for the 2003 Rockefeller Plaza Christmas show on CBS (was not used), but I liked it a lot, so I keep it around and dust it off every Christmas. And yeah, all acknowledgements go to Ravel, whom I shamelessly ripped off for the arrangement. This version features Nancy Donnelly on the flute. All other instruments were synthesized using Reason® software and orchestral samples. Greg Galluccio and Phil Sivilli: "Dr. Wu" (by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker) Phil and I threw this one together over a couple of beers one night - it's an acoustic guitar version of the Steely Dan classic. Phil played bass and sang those big fat background vocals. Nancy Donnelly did a pretty amazing job mimicking the original Phil Woods sax solo on her flute. Greg Galluccio: "Isn't It Time?" (copyright © 2009, Greg Galluccio, all rights reserved) This started out as a TV track but got too good. I'll still use the basic tracks for a TV track, but I had fun throwing vocals on this and making it into a full-fledged song. Woke up one Saturday morning and started channeling Peter Gabriel and Kevin Gilbert, so I had to get into the distorted vocals thing. A song for our times.
